A designated guarded swimming area is staffed by the Association's seasonal lifeguards.
Silver Beach, New Jersey
Silver Beach is a distinctive Toms River Township shore community stretching between the Atlantic Ocean and Barnegat Bay. Its association maintains an ocean beach with swimming, surfing and volleyball, plus a separate bay recreation area with kayaking, playgrounds, gazebos and tennis — all within one compact barrier-island neighborhood.
Welcome to Silver Beach
Silver Beach is an unincorporated shore community within Toms River Township and the Dover Beaches North section of the Barnegat Peninsula. Many homes and businesses use a Lavallette, NJ 08735 mailing address even though Silver Beach is not part of the Borough of Lavallette.
Silver Beach is largely residential and strongly shaped by seasonal shore life. What makes it unusual is the breadth of its recreation and the fact that the Silver Beach Association currently makes its beaches available to the general public through paid beach badges.
Silver Beach Association
Silver Beach property owners established the Silver Beach Association, a private New Jersey organization governed by an elected Executive Committee. The Association owns and operates both the Atlantic Ocean and Barnegat Bay beach properties in Silver Beach and employs its seasonal lifeguard staff.
The Association maintains the guarded ocean beach, swimming and recreation areas, lifeguard facilities and badge program.
The Association maintains the Route 35 South bay property with a kayak launch, playground, gazebos and tennis facilities.
An elected Executive Committee of officers and trustees oversees Association operations and community responsibilities.
Silver Beach Ocean Beach
The Association's ocean beach is located between Fishermans Road and South Surf Road. The beachfront is organized into several recreation areas rather than a single swimming zone.
A separate area is designated for rafts and boogie boards.
The Association identifies a separate section for surfing, fishing and skimboarding.
A volleyball court adds recreation beyond swimming and ocean sports.
Silver Beach Bay Recreation Area
The second major Association property is on Route 35 South between North Lagoon Road and Silver Beach Road. It serves as a broader bay-side recreation area.
A dedicated launch provides convenient access to Barnegat Bay for kayaking and paddling.
The bay facility includes a children's playground.
Several gazebos create gathering and shaded areas along the bay side.
The property includes a tennis court, with access limited to Association tennis members under current rules.
2026 Silver Beach Badges
Silver Beach's badge system is notable because beach access is available to Association members, qualifying renters and guests, and the general public.
Discounted weekly badges for renters or guests of an Association member run from Saturday at 10:00 AM through the following Friday at 5:30 PM. Renters of non-member properties are included in the general-public daily badge category under current rules.
Community Life & Recreation
Silver Beach combines a quiet residential shore atmosphere with broad recreation for a small barrier-island neighborhood. The Association's current website and documentation show active community governance and seasonal activities.
The Association's 2026 calendar identifies Family Day for Saturday, September 5.
The Association maintains rules for its tennis/pickleball program, complementing the bay-side court facilities.
Association-branded apparel is offered seasonally from the lifeguard shack at the ocean beach.
